Every brand that approaches us with a capsule concept asks the same question first: how long until we can ship? It deserves a straight answer rather than a sales number. In soft-capsule manufacturing the calendar is not set by the filling machine alone. It is set by how quickly the formula is locked, how long stability data takes to accumulate, and how many sample rounds your team needs before signing off.

Here is the timeline we share with overseas brands during onboarding, based on typical facial serum oil, eye serum, hair oil and body care projects. Standard soft capsules move from brief to shipment in roughly 14 to 20 weeks. Complex actives, custom shapes or new packaging components can push it longer. Everything starts with a written brief: target market, positioning, price band, claims you want to make and the format you have in mind. Our team reviews whether your chosen actives can survive encapsulation, because oil-soluble ingredients behave very differently from water-soluble ones. We also flag early decisions on dosage, capsule size and shell choice: 100% plant-based vegan shell or edible-grade gelatin.

Arrive with your market and price point decided. Feasibility feedback takes three to five working days, and every week saved here is a week saved later.

Then the real work begins. We develop the formula, test texture and stability in-house, and produce lab samples for your sensory review. Expect two to three iterations, since most brands adjust scent, glide or absorption once they feel the product on skin.

• Round one: proof of concept, typically 5 to 10 working days after brief approval
• Rounds two and three: sensory tweaks, fill weight, shell colour and finish
• Parallel track: artwork, primary packaging and carton design

Two things slow this phase: changing the active list mid-project, and slow internal feedback. Consolidate approvals into one round.

Once the formula is frozen, the clock is largely outside anyone's control. Stability testing runs in real time. Accelerated conditions give early signals, but shelf-life claims need the full period. In parallel we check compatibility between fill and shell, and between capsule and packaging, so nothing softens, bleeds or discolours over time.

This is also when regulatory paperwork moves forward for your destination market. Single-dose soft capsules help here. The shell seals the fill, protects light-sensitive actives such as astaxanthin or bakuchiol, and removes the need for the preservatives regulators scrutinise most closely. A sealed unit is also simple to declare, because the dosage is fixed.

Production is the shortest and most predictable stage, assuming nothing upstream shifted.
